The Switch's latest update is here- and it comes with a whole lot of new features. Some notable inclusions are the ability to transfer user and save data to a new console, and the ability to capture video on select games.
Once updated, just hold the capture button down and the previous thirty seconds of gameplay will be saved to your device. You'll then have the option to trim your clip before posting on social media. Right now, this feature is compatible with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, and Splatoon 2. Currently, this feature isn't working on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. A message on the Switch news feed states the feature will become available with the 1.3.0 version of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Update 4.0 also comes with the ability to transfer data to a new console. Although, it's important to note that once transferred the data will no longer be available on the original Switch.
The update also comes with 12 new Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild avatar icons. Another system update is the choice to now pre-purchase and pre-load select game releases.
The 4.0 update also includes a new look news feed. The updated feed will also block content from channels you have unfollowed from appearing on your news feed. Another handy system update is the "match software version with a group of local users". This feature allows you to update all local user software at the same time. Useful if you have multiple accounts on the one console.
Lastly, the update has changed the specifications that hid wireless networks using TKIP security from the search results. These networks will now appear as a greyed-out selection, rather than being completely hidden.
Your Switch should download this update automatically, but if not, just head over to your system settings to download and update manually. You can check out the whole system update in the video below!
