Semispheres is a meditative puzzle game with its focus on dual overlapping realities.
The game tells the story of a boy and his robot and unfolds via a series of images after completing levels.
Semispheres has a unique split screen single player gameplay. The player needs to control two orbs and guide them to the exit. Each half is identical except for the guard and power-up placements.
The objective of the game is to direct the orbs to the exit by sneaking past the guard. The power-ups give you tools to distract the guard while you can sneak past. You can connect the two sides of the screen using a portal in order to help the other orb reach the exit.
Each level is very cleverly designed and requires stealth as well as a good strategy to get through. It's very challenging at some points but nevertheless fun.
The graphics are nothing out of the ordinary. For the most part, your screen is split into orange and blue sides, both of which are warm colours and very easy on the eye.
The lighting effects, soothing colour combination ensures that the game is still a pleasure to look at even when you're playing for a long duration.
AUDIO The best aspect of this game is the audio. It is meditative, relaxing and immersive. Music and sound effects are perfectly crafted to reflect each side's respective movements which affect the soundscape in different ways.
VERDICT Semispheres is one of the few games you can play even when you've had a long day. The game helps you find peace and serenity through its uniquely charming design and gameplay. There are plenty of puzzlers out there, but there's just something special about the way this implements such a peaceful, meditative stance.
