OVERVIEW Team Racing League is an online multiplayer racing game developed by Gamious. The game is set apart from others as it focuses on strategy as much as it does on racing.
STORYLINE There is no evident storyline, as the game already suggests solely an online multiplayer experience.
The players engage in a race around a closed circuit with a top down view. However, unlike other racing games, only one player from a team has to finish. The other racers can choose to assist the teammate by blocking and disrupting enemies or boosting their teammates.
There is a wide range of ways to approach this game. You can directly assist a teammate by boosting him or use disabling abilities like roadblocks to counter opponents. Each ability can be countered and players need to decide a quick counter play to the opponent's strategies to take the win.
The gameplay however, has nothing more to it. It lacks depth. Due to the game being in early access, wait times are really long. The game is only fun when playing as a party and just doesn't have enough modes to keep you engaged. The abilities aren't intuitive which makes the tutorial a must before going into the game.
GRAPHICS The game has a vibrant colour palette. But the lack of a significant environment coupled with mediocre, uninspiring design makes the game nothing out of the ordinary. There are minimal animations which make the game feel incomplete. Overall, the graphics are average and have a lot of room for improvement.
AUDIO The audio feels severely lacking. With only a single soundtrack playing in the background and a lack of options, the audio fails to deliver on the chaotic and fast paced gameplay which the game strives to achieve.
VERDICT Team Racing League is still in early access and has a lot of room for improvement. As it stands, the game is not worth playing without friends. With a lot of competition in the racing genre, Team Racing League has a lot to catch up on. It's a good, enjoyable game but it loses its appeal very fast.
